Every year, EFF uses TAB's yearly donation toward two projects: supporting the Bete-Se'ida Orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and sponsoring the education of two little girls.
The Bete-Se'ida Orphanage provides a home to children and mothers who have AIDS or are HIV positive. Some of the women still have their children with them, and it's optimal to try to keep these women with their children as long as possible This is one of the goals at the orphanage, which is, consequently, sometimes called a "non-orphanage."
Maresha Amare and Tsion Bekele, the two sponsored girls, have been provided with uniforms, supplies, tuition, food and school transportation for the third year in a row. Both girls have been affected by AIDS in their families. Their lives have been transformed with the help provided by TAB. These girls, who come from destitute families, would have been at high risk for contracting HIV/AIDS and now have a chance to build productive lives.
